This gold charm features the New Bedford, Massachusetts Whaleman, created by Bela Lyon Pratt, one of America’s most noted sculptors. A prominent resident, William W. Crapo, gifted the statue to the city, and it was unveiled on June 20, 1913, in Library Square. The sculpture stands as a tribute to the hard work and determination of the whalers who helped build the prosperity of the community.
