Art Deco Filigree and Unique Stone Cameo Ring

This Carnelian stone Cameo has wonderful crisp details, and a great contrast between the carving and the reddish-brown background. Set into an Art Deco white gold filigree mounting, the crispness of the filigree and bright white metal make also for a lovely contrast with the Cameo. Cameo is the art of carving a layered material, creating a portrait or landscape in the differing colors and textures. While traditionally done in shell, stone has also been used in cameo work - particularly in Greece and Italy - for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
